Before he stole hearts as Alfie on Emily in Paris, Lucien Laviscount had a scene-stealing performance in Scream Queens — and he loves the prospect of working with Ryan Murphy again.
“I would love nothing more than to work with Ryan again,” Laviscount, 33, exclusively told Us Weekly while attending the Netflix House Philadelphia VIP Housewarming Party on Monday, November 10. “I would love, love, love, love [the idea of appearing on All’s Fair or Monster]. It’d be a good fit.”
Laviscount called the casting process a “crazy kind of situation,” sharing, “I auditioned for a role and didn’t get it. I’m not going to say which role but I auditioned for one role and then I got flown out to L.A. We auditioned on the Glee set and then I got a phone call and I didn’t get the job.”
Instead of the role he auditioned for, Laviscount got an offer for Earl Grey.

“Next thing you know, I got a phone call from Ryan saying, ‘I’m going to write you a part,’” he recalled. “But that’s how it works. I don’t know how his mind works — to be honest — and I don’t want to know because it’s kind of sick and twisted and all these great things. But I just like to be on the other side of it with him. It would be great to work with him again.”
Laviscount got his start on shows such as Grange Hill, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road. He then moved on to episodes of Skins, Shameless, Supernatural: Bloodlines and Episodes before bringing Earl Grey to life on Scream Queens.
After other roles on Snatch and Katy Keene, Laviscount booked the role of Alfie on Emily in Paris. Alfie quickly won Us over as he fought for Emily’s heart and even though their romance fizzled out, Laviscount remained on the hit show.
“The Emily in Paris universe just keeps on churning out great stuff,” he told Us ahead of the show’s season 5 premiere. “I leave all my fate in the writers. This season is a fun one.”
The Netflix series, which premiered in 2020, centers around Emily and her often hilarious attempts to find her footing in France after moving from the U.S. for a new job. Emily subsequently ends up caught in a love triangle between Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie.
After starting season 4 off in a relationship with Gabriel, that relationship fizzled out as well. Emily is now dating Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) in Rome while Alfie has a special someone in his life, who viewers hope to meet in season 5.

“Expect the unexpected,” Laviscount teased. “I know that when I first got the pilot [for the season 5 premiere], I was taken aback a little bit.”
Laviscount didn’t appear to rule out his character still having possible feelings for Emily. “Time will tell all,” he said about the chances of him returning to the love triangle. “I’m just happy I get to come back and work with these people every season.”
In addition to Laviscount’s insight, his costar Ashley Park offered similar insight into the next batch of episodes, which air December 18.
What I’ll say is that was a teaser [that Netflix released] and that was only in Rome,” Park, 34, who plays Mindy Chen, shared “We also filmed in Paris and Venice so that was truly a teaser.”
Park promised that fans are in for a fun ride. “This gives you a taste of the tone and what you can be excited for in the first couple of episodes,” she added. “But there’s a lot more. The best is yet to come.”
Emily in Paris returns Thursday, December 18, on Netflix.
