Bangor is ending its longtime ban against parking on the street during the winter.
On even-numbered days, residents can park on the side of the road with even-numbered addresses, while on odd-numbered days, they can park on the side with odd-numbered addresses, the city said Wednesday.
But when a major storm hits, parking may still be banned to allow Public Works to remove snow.
If a citywide parking ban is declared, then no vehicles can be parked on the street. If a parking ban is declared downtown, vehicles must be moved to off-street parking.
People can park between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. in the lower level of the Columbia Street Parking Deck and the lower level of the Pickering Square Parking Garage on the Kenduskeag Plaza side, as well as between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the rear section of the upper Abbot Square parking lot on Harlow Street.
Outside downtown, people can park between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. at Cameron Stadium on Mount Hope Avenue, Lot C at the Cross Insurance Center, the Essex Street Dog Park, Gateway Park, Hayford Park and the Union Street Recreation Center.
