Burglars have again broken into the home of former England footballer Raheem Sterling.

The 30-year-old Chelsea star was at home with his family when intruders got into the Berkshire property at around 6.30pm on Saturday.

But they were disturbed and fled before they could take anything.

It is the third time in just seven years that Sterling’s home has been targeted, after incidents at properties in Surrey and Cheshire.

“Whilst the ultimate violation of privacy and safety, we are thankful to be able to confirm that he and his loved ones are all safe,” his representative said.

“We ask that the privacy of Raheem and his loved ones be respected at this challenging time.”

Sterling’s previous home in Surrey was also targeted by burglars in 2022, who stole jewellery and watches said to be worth £300,000.

The break-in happened in Oxshott, Leatherhead, and was reported to police on 3 December 2022.

Sterling, who was said to be “shaken” and “concerned for the wellbeing of his children”, returned home from the World Cup in Qatar after the burglary.

The family were not at the property at the time of that incident.

Sterling’s previous home in Goostrey, Cheshire, was also targeted by thieves in 2018, but they fled when the alarm system was activated.
