Neve Campbell is back as Sidney Prescott in Scream 7 for what appears to be the most brutal, bloody and deadly film of the franchise.
The official trailer was released on Thursday, October 30, which showed Campbell’s return as Sidney’s family becomes Ghostface’s next target. Sidney’s daughter, Tatum (Isabel May), helps her mother face off against the masked murderer with help from dad Mark (Joel McHale), Gale (Courteney Cox) and more familiar faces.
Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown also reprise their roles from the the most recent films while Scream veterans Scott Foley, Matthew Lillard and David Arquette are expected to make appearances — although it is unclear how since their characters are dead.
“When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target,” the official synopsis for the seventh film read. “Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”
What to Know About ‘Scream 7’ After Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega’s Exits
Rounding out the cast is Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph and Jimmy Tatro. Despite the new additions, Scream fans won’t be seeing Melissa Barrera or Jenna Ortega, who were the protagonists of the most recent trilogy.

Before filming began on Scream 7, news broke that Barrera, 35, was reportedly fired following her comments about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The production company behind the newest batch of Scream films, Spyglass Media Group, subsequently denied that Barrera’s pro-Palestine comments were what caused her exit.
Barrera subsequently broke her silence about no longer playing Sam Carpenter.
“First and foremost I condemn Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. I condemn hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people,” she wrote via Instagram Story that same month, noting she felt a “responsibility” to speak out. “As a Latina, a proud Mexicana, I feel the responsibility of having a platform that allows me the privilege of being heard, and therefore I have tried to use it to raise awareness about issues I care about and to lend my voice to those in need. Every person on this earth — regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status — deserves equal human rights, dignity and, of course, freedom.”
Ortega, 23, will also not return in the role of Tara Carpenter because of her filming schedule for season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday. Director Christopher Landon, who was set to succeed Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, later pulled out as well. Scream creator Kevin Williamson subsequently returned to direct his first film in the iconic horror franchise.
Campbell, 52, also returned after rising to stardom after starring as Sidney in the slasher films from 1996 to 2011. She didn’t appear in the sixth film after rejecting the studio’s salary offer but signed on for the seventh installment in March 2024.

“Hi All. I’m so excited to announce this news!!! Campbell offered some information about the creative team behind the seventh movie, adding, “While I’ve been so incredibly lucky to make these films with both the master of horror Wes Craven and the wonderfully talented Matt and Tyler team, I’ve dreamt for many years of how amazing it would be to make one of these movies with Kevin Williamson at the helm.
