Without that pair of dramas on loan from AMC, this would have been a very uncharacteristically quiet week for the No. 1 streamer in the world.

‘Parish’ (2024)
Giancarlo Esposito reinvented his career as Gus Fring on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, so it was only a matter of time before he got an AMC original series of his own. Parish finally puts Esposito in the leading role as Gracián “Gray” Parish, a man with a criminal past and impeccable driving skills who attempted to go straight.
One year after the death of his son, Gray is feeling emotionally cut off from his wife, Rose Parish (Paula Malcomson), and drowning in debt. His old friend, Colin Broussard (Skeet Ulrich), convinces him to do one last job for a local crime boss, Shepherd Tonghai, aka The Horse (Zackary Momoh). But in the criminal underworld, it’s never just one last job. Gray’s back in the life, and he may never get back out again.

When this Walking Dead spinoff was in development, it was originally supposed to star both Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride. Instead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon began as a solo showcase for Reedus, as he reprised the role he originated in 2010 on The Walking Dead.

Season 2, which recently arrived on Netflix, finally brought McBride back as Carol Peletier, Daryl’s closest friend in the world. She doesn’t know that Daryl’s been shanghaied to Europe and he’s essentially stuck an ocean away. But that’s not going to stop Carol from hunting down every lead in a quest to find her lost friend and bring him back home.

‘Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia’ (2025)
Where would we be without a fresh true crime story on Netflix? Mob War: Philadelphia Vs. The Mafia is a three-part docuseries that revisits a real-life Sopranos-esque struggle for power that went down in the early 1990s in Philadelphia. But this conflict goes back to 1986, and the arrest of mob boss Nicky Scarfo.
With Scarfo out of the way, the New York mafia wanted John Stanfa to take over the Philadelphia mob because they thought they could control their counterparts and slip back under the radar of the general public. However, the Philly mob wasn’t exactly eager to hand over their operation to an outsider. They threw their support behind Joey Merlino, and that set off a bloody battle for control of the city as the FBI attempted to gather the evidence to bring both sides down. This show features interviews with some of the investigators and the surviving criminals who lived through the war.
