Amy Kaplan already has her sights set on becoming the next Golden Bachelorette after not finding The One in Golden Bachelor Mel Owens.
“Well, if they call me, I would definitely answer,” Amy, 63, exclusively told Us Weekly at the Golden Bachelor Gal’s Brunch on Thursday, October 16. “I have to say that that would be more of a better, let’s say, scene of events for me because I would be the one they are picking and they would have to compete for me.”
She continued, “Of course, I would only be with them if there was a connection. And I would not have to chase after a man. I mean, how backwards is that? I’ve never chased after a man in my life. They need to come to me. I mean, it’s ridiculous.”
As for what Amy is searching for with her next partner, the season 2 contestant shared she wants a “connection on every level.”

“I mean, I’m not asking for too much, am I?” she asked. “I need to connect emotionally, physically, spiritually, intellectually. We have to have similar values. He has to have depth and character and soul. Am I asking for too much? He needs to be neat and warm and kind and snuggly.”
She continued, “To me, it’s like growing old with someone and doing the simple things like snuggling on a fluffy rug to the adventurous and glamorous like luxury travel — but the day to day stuff has got to be there. You’re in a supermarket with your guy and you just like shopping the aisles together. Or, snuggling on a rug and you’re like, ‘Ah, this is it. It’s home.’”
After sending Amy and fellow suitors packing, Mel is now down to his final three contestants: Debbie Siebers, Peg Munson and Cindy Angelcyk Cullers. Mel, for his part, was previously married to Fabiana Pimentel for nearly 18 years. The pair, who share two sons, split during the COVID-19 pandemic after she fell for someone else.
“Well, it’s never good, right?” Mel exclusively told Us Weekly about the situation in September. “But, you know, I’m never going to get in the way of someone’s happiness. If you want to find somebody else in a different phase in your life — it hurts — but I can’t get in the way of your happiness. And what’s your happiness may not be my happiness. That’d be a real conflict — you can’t stop somebody, say, ‘I’m over here now.’ You can beg and plead, but I’m fine. Life is short, and if you’re in love with somebody else, that’s fine.”
While recalling how he dealt with the split, Mel shared, “You live in the moment.”
“Plus, I had kids, so I had to think about them before me,” he said. “So that was the main focus. And there were younger kids at the time — not infants, but teenagers. I let things work itself out, and it did. And have patience and understanding.”
