Bangor residents have a variety of opinions on whether Bangor is a safe place to live.
On a recent afternoon spent walking around downtown, Bangor Daily News reporters found some voters who said they felt perfectly safe and others who felt the opposite. Although crime rates are declining in Maine, crime and public safety continue to be political flashpoints.
The BDN asked each candidate the following question: We’ve heard a lot of discussion from candidates and community members about crime levels and how some people don’t feel safe in Bangor. Do you think that Bangor is unsafe? What steps would you take to address these concerns?
Watch the video below to hear directly from them. Candidates are shown in the order they appear on the ballot.
The BDN has profiled all nine candidates. You can read more about them here: Daniel Carson, James Gallagher, Angela Walker, Justin Cartier, Reese Perkins, Steven Farren, Richard Ward, Susan Faloon and Colleen O’Neal.
