Terrified, Harold begins searching for this mysterious narrator — and along the way, finds love with an anarchist baker played by Maggie Gyllenhaal. It’s a clever, heartfelt story that makes you question who gets to write your narrative.

It’s loud, ridiculous, and full of heart — exactly what you’d want from a rock-comedy fantasy.
‘The Cabin in the Woods’ (2012)
A horror-comedy that lovingly mocks every horror trope of all time, The Cabin in the Woods follows a group of friends (Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams) who go on a weekend cabin getaway, only to discover a haunting surprise — then another. And another. As it’s soon revealed, they’re part of some sort of conspiracy.
Someone in power wants them dead — and they’ll use werewolves, zombies, possessed children or any tool at their disposal to make it happen. Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford are dryly hilarious as the two “men behind the curtain” coordinating the monster attacks in this twist-filled, terrifying comedy.

‘Timer’ (2009)
Waiting to meet the one is tough. Would it be easier if you had a device that told you exactly how long you had to wait before it happened? In this sci-fi rom-com directed by Wandavision and Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer, Oona (Emma Caulfield), a Los Angeles orthodontist, has a blank TiMER device, meaning her soulmate has not purchased one.
With no idea how long she’ll have to wait, Oona grows more and more frustrated as the people around her couple up. It’s a quirky, bittersweet take on romance that makes you wonder whether knowing your future is a gift or a trap.
‘Some Like It Hot’ (1959)
Two musicians (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) witness a mob hit and are forced to go on the run. In order to still earn a living without being discovered, they find work playing in a women’s jazz band. One big problem arises, though — both men fall hard for the band’s lovely singer, Sugar (Marilyn Monroe).
Will either of them win her heart, and can they escape from the vengeful mobsters trying to hunt them down? It’s a 1950s screwball comedy, so happy endings are practically guaranteed, but boy, are there a lot of messy shenanigans on the way. With its sharp wit and timeless charm, Some Like It Hot remains a masterclass in comic misdirection.
