One person was killed and two others seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night in Topsham.
The crash on Route 196 near the Merrymeeting Bridge was reported at 10:38 p.m., according to Topsham police.
When officers arrived, they immediately began life-saving efforts on a 23-year-old male passenger of one of the vehicles. The man was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, where he was later pronounced dead.
The drivers of both vehicles – a 34-year-old man in a gray 2020 GMC pickup truck and a 25-year-old woman in a white 2019 Volvo SUV – were taken to Maine Medical Center.
A preliminary investigation found that one vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane, resulting in a head-on collision.
