Unlike many of its competitors, Netflix has new movies to choose from even before September fades into October.

For example, the recently debuted Karate Kid: Legends made ts streaming premiere before the end of September.

That’s Watch With Us‘ first pick for the three popular Netflix movies that you need to watch now.

However, you’ll need to wait until October 1 before you can catch our third pick, which won Best Picture at the Oscars during the 2010 Academy Awards.

26 Must-Watch Movies on Netflix (September 2025) ‘28 Years Later’ and More

‘Karate Kid: Legends’ (2025)

Karate Kid: Legends isn’t a sequel to Netflix’s Cobra Kai, but it does bring back the original Karate Kid, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), alongside the star of the 2010 reboot, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), for an Avengers-style crossover. At least, once the story gets around to it.

In the meantime, the focus falls on Li Fong (Ben Wang), a newcomer to New York who also happens to be Mr. Han’s great-nephew. Like the Karate Kids before him, Li is having some trouble with bullies that can only be countered by intense martial arts training. Unlike the others, Li has both Mr. Han and Daniel in his corner, and the best of kung fu and karate to experience from his new teachers.

Karate Kid Legends is streaming on Netflix.

‘Sweet Home Alabama’ (2002)

Dakota Fanning makes a brief appearance during a flashback in Sweet Home Alabama as a young Melanie Smooter, just in time for her lifelong friend, Jake Perry (Thomas Curtis), to promise that they’ll one day be married. In the present, Melanie (Reese Witherspoon) is engaged to Andrew Hennings (Patrick Dempsey), a scion of a politically connected New York family. But before Melanie can marry Andrew, she needs Jake (Josh Lucas) to sign their divorce papers.

8 Must-Watch Rom-Com Movies on Netflix (September 2025): ‘Anyone But You’ and More

Melanie spent years trying to hide from her small-town roots while avoiding Jake. She doesn’t have that option anymore. And as Melanie catches up with the people she thought she left behind, she and Jake have some unfinished business of the heart to attend to.

Sweet Home Alabama is streaming on Netflix.

‘The Hurt Locker’ (2009)

Kathryn Bigelow upset her ex-husband, James Cameron, at the Oscars with wins for Best Picture and Best Director for The Hurt Locker. It takes place during the second Iraq War and features Jeremy Renner as Sergeant First Class William James, the closest thing there is to a rock star among bomb disposal specialists.

James’ dangerous hands-on approach to dismantling explosives angers his fellow soldiers, Sergeant J. T. Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and Specialist Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty). However, there isn’t time for personal grudges on the ongoing battlefield. If these men can’t work together, then their only trip home may be after they die.

The Hurt Locker will stream on Netflix on October 1.
