An Auburn man allegedly sexually assaulted a girl under his care.
Philip Libby, 44, has been charged with gross sexual assault, according to the Auburn Police Department.
The girl came forward on July 15 to report that Libby had allegedly sexually assaulted her. After an investigation, Libby was arrested on July 30, Auburn police said Friday.
Libby had the girl under his care when the alleged assault happened.Libby reportedly later confessed to sexually assaulting the girl, and he was arrested and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail, where he was being held on $100,000 bail.
“The Auburn Police Department commends the victim for her courage in coming forward and reporting this incident,” the department said in a statement.
