7 New Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and More (Sept. 19-21)
‘Superman’ (2025)
Superman makes his triumphant return in James Gunn’s iteration of the classic character. Played by David Corenswet, Superman, aka Clark Kent, faces his arch nemesis Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), who is intent on bringing Superman down and turning the adoring public against him. As Superman is embroiled in something of a PR nightmare, he’ll need help from Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and his friends at The Daily Planet to get out and save the world.
As is customary for Gunn, Superman deftly weaves smart, snappy comedy with action, believable character development and emotional beats that pack as heavy a punch as Superman himself. The film is an entertaining comeback vehicle for the Man of Steel, and also features a breakout performance for Corenswet, who embodies the iconic hero with skill.

‘Haunted Hotel’ Season 1
This brand-new adult animated Netflix original follows Katherine (voiced by Eliza Coupe), the reluctant owner of the Undervale Hotel, which is, as the title of the show suggests, haunted. However, she finds help in her older brother, Nathan (voiced by Will Forte) — who also just happens to be a ghost. Nathan helps Katherine navigate the struggle of retaining guests while warding off unwanted spirits.
From former Rick and Morty writer Matt Roller, Haunted Hotel is a goofy animated romp and perfectly suited for fans of Roller’s preceding series. It’s further emboldened by a strong voice cast of familiar names like Forte, Skyler Gisondo and Jimmi Simpson. Not only exceedingly funny, the series has great character writing as well.

‘Love Hurts’ (2025)
Love Hurts stars Ke Huy Quan as Marvin, an ordinary realtor from Milwaukee with a secret criminal past. When Marvin is contacted by his former partner-in-crime, he finds himself dragged back to a world he thought he’d escaped. This entertaining action-comedy has a rom-com touch and co-stars Ariana DeBose as Rose, Marvin’s former partner and eventual love interest.
With plenty of thrilling action set pieces and lighthearted humor, Love Hurts is a great genre hybrid and is led by charming performances from both Quan and DeBose. Footballer-turned-actor Marshawn Lynch also makes an appearance and has become a welcome addition to recent cinema.

‘Tulsa King’ Season 3
The third season of Sylvester Stallone’s Tulsa King is finally here, and sees his mafia character, Dwight “The General” Manfred, back and better than ever. The series initially follows Manfredi as he has been recently released from prison in New York, but has been exiled from his former boss, forced to set up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There, he proves that in 25 years, he hasn’t changed one bit, and begins setting up a criminal enterprise in his new home.
From Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King proves that Stallone is still a total beast, as he performs the role of Manfredi with charm and confidence. Critics have praised the series for its comedic tone, performances and overall quality. In addition to Stallone, the supporting cast includes Martin Starr, Garrett Hedlund and Frank Grillo.

‘Trolls Band Together’ (2023)
If you’re looking for something new on streaming that’s kid-friendly, there’s likely nothing better to find than Trolls Band Together. The third installment in the wildly successful Trolls franchise, this sequel sees Poppy (Anna Kendrick) learn that Branch (Justin Timberlake) was once in her favorite boy band with his brothers. But when one of Branch’s brothers is kidnapped, they’ll need to save him and get the band back together.
As is expected, Trolls Band Together is full of toe-tapping tunes and adorable characters that even parents won’t be able to resist. Additionally, it features eye-catching, creative visuals and plenty of fun jokes.
