Amazon Prime Video may feature a lot of original movies, but it’s also got one of the deepest film libraries among the major streamers.

Among the new movies in September, the latest additions span decades of cinematic history.

Watch With Us has narrowed down this month’s arrivals to the three new Prime Video movies you need to watch in September.

Our picks for the month include a hauntingly romantic film celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, as well as a seminal action flick and an underrated dystopian story.

7 Must-Watch Drama Movies on Prime Video (September 2025): ‘Chef’ and More

3. ‘Somewhere in Time’ (1980)

IMDB rank: 7.2

After getting his big break in the original Superman movie, Christopher Reeve played a young man named Richard Collier in the sci-fi/fantasy romance Somewhere in Time. Following an enigmatic meeting with an elderly actress, Elise McKenna (Susan French), Richard comes to believe that he will find a way to go back in time and romance Elise (Jane Seymour) in the late 19th century when she was still young.

Incredibly, Richard pulls off his journey to the past and romantically pursues Elise, who doesn’t initially know what to make of him. Her manager, William Fawcett Robinson (Christopher Plummer), attempts to extinguish their affair before it can begin. But Richard has already crossed the ocean of time to be with his one true love, and he won’t let anything get in their way.

Somewhere in Time is streaming on Prime Video.

2. ‘The Bourne Identity’ (2002)

IMDB rank: 7.8

Would you believe that Matt Damon wasn’t a credible action hero until The Bourne Identity came along? This spy action thriller changed the game for the actor and challenged the James Bond films’ grip on the genre. Damon plays Jason Bourne, a man suffering from amnesia in the wake of a brush with death.

13 Must-Watch Action Movies on Prime Video Right Now (September 2025)

As Jason puts together the pieces of his past, he discovers that he was a CIA assassin who failed to carry out one of his hits. One of Jason’s superiors,  Alexander Conklin (Chris Cooper), is so unnerved by his failure that he orders The Professor (Clive Owen) and two other assassins to permanently silence Jason before he can inadvertently expose their illegal operation.

The Bourne Identity is streaming on Prime Video.

1. Children of Men (2006)

IMDB rank: 7.9

Owen took on the leading role in Alfonso Cuarón‘s dystopian action thriller Children of Men. In the then far-off future of 2027, human fertility has essentially been wiped out, and the United Kingdom has become an unrecognizable fascist state that cruelly deports or murders its immigrants.

Theo Faron (Owen) is an ordinary man who is recruited by his ex-wife, Julian Taylor (Julianne Moore), to escort a young woman named Kee (Clare-Hope Ashitey) out of the United Kingdom. Kee may be the last pregnant woman on Earth, and her baby may hold the key to restoring humanity’s ability to procreate. That also makes Theo and Kee the target of dangerous men like Luke (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who only want to use Kee’s child as a political bargaining chip. The future of humanity rides on whether Theo can see this mission through to the end.

Children of Men is streaming on Prime Video.
