Brilliant Minds is shaking things up in season 2 with some surprising changes — and new faces.
In Us Weekly‘s exclusive behind-the-scenes video from set, Zachary Quinto, Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears and newcomers Brian Altemus, John Clarence Stewart and Al Calderon teased what viewers can expect from the upcoming season.
“It’s been great to have new energy on the show, new perspectives and new doctors,” said Quinto, 48, who plays Oliver Wolf. “Suddenly we have a whole new wing of the hospital.”
The actor poked fun at his costars, adding, “Well, I was probably the first person to sign on to the show. Everyone else came along because I am here.”

Bronx General will continue to take on cases that challenge the staff.
“We don’t necessarily fix people as much as we modify their approach to life and their perspectives,” Quinto continued. “Vulnerability has with it some tenderness and some sensitivity. You create space for other people to come in and give a helping hand. We do that for each other.”

Sears, 48, who plays Quinto’s onscreen love interest, said he is excited to “explore what is going to happen between Wolf and Josh.” He is also thrilled at how Brilliant Minds is expanding the story on season 2.
“The medical mystery aspect of the show — the strange but true things that happen to human beings — was really exciting,” Sears shared. “The great thing about season 2 is it attracts a really high caliber of guest stars.”
Brilliant Minds, which premiered in September 2024, is inspired by the Oliver Sacks books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars. The show follows a neurologist and his team of interns as they tackle challenging neurology cases while dealing with their own relationships and mental health.

“We are so excited to be able to open up the world of the hospital,” Perry noted, while newcomer Stewart, 37, added, “When people really care about the people whose stories we are telling and about the community we are highlighting, that is something I am grateful for.”
Calderon said he felt “seen and included,” and Altemus called the experience “extremely welcoming.”
When Brilliant Minds returns for season 2, the premiere will follow an MMA fighter with mysterious symptoms. Perry’s Dr. Pierce also considers a career outside of Bronx General. The episode guest stars Lauren Vandervoort and Porsha Williams.
Brilliant Minds returns to NBC Monday, September 22, at 10 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
