THOMASTON — Watts Hall Community Arts invites the public to dance the night away at Latin Dance Night featuring Primo Cubano at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. This lively evening of music and movement offers a chance to experience the energy of traditional Cuban dance music in the newly renovated Watts Hall at 174 Main St.
Primo Cubano brings the vibrant sounds of Son, a genre that originated in early 20th century Cuba and laid the foundation for many popular Latin styles, including salsa. Formed in 2007 by Paul D’Alessio following an artist exchange trip to Trinidad de Cuba, the group is known for its authentic sound and engaging performances. The band features Paul D’Alessio on tres cubano and vocals, Marc Chillemi on trumpet, percussion, and vocals, Lenny Hatch on congas, bongo, and bell, Duane Edwards on upright bass and Eric Winter on timbales, percussion, and vocals.
Together, these seasoned musicians create an inviting and energetic atmosphere that encourages dancers of all experience levels to join in. Whether you are a seasoned dancer or stepping onto the floor for the first time, this event offers a welcoming space to enjoy music, movement, and community.
Tickets are $22 in advance and $27 the day of the event, if available. Dance nights at Watts Hall often sell out, and advance purchase is strongly recommended.
This event is part of Watts Hall’s grand reopening celebration, following a major renovation that has refreshed and revitalized this historic community space. Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of music and dance while experiencing the updated hall.
