Two people and a police dog were injured Saturday when a police patrol vehicle and SUV collided, according to the Windham Police Department.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:13 p.m. and involved a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Juan Yupangui, 45, of Auburn, and a 2023 Ford Interceptor patrol vehicle driven by Officer Samuel Pattee, who was on duty and responding to another call at the time.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision, which happened at the intersection of routes 302 and 35, according to CBS-13. The drivers were taken to a local hospital and their vehicles were towed from the scene.

Two passengers, who were not identified, fled on foot after the crash, according to a Facebook post by Windham police. Police said they are not believed to have been involved and are not considered a threat to the public.

Pattee and his dog, K9 Zeus, have been released from the hospital and are at home resting comfortably, according to police.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Windham police.
