The Pitt‘s Supriya Ganesh will no longer be joining her costars at an upcoming event after news broke of her exit from the show.

“Hi everyone — not sure why it’s not removed off the site but I will not be at Paleyfest this Sunday,” Ganesh, 28, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, April 10. “I know some of you bought tickets to see me and I hope you know this is not a decision I take lightly. Love you all.”

It was originally announced in February that Ganesh was set to appear at the panel alongside showrunner R. Scott Gemmill and cast members Noah Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Isa Briones, Shawn Hatosy, Sepideh Moafi and Taylor Dearden.

Ahead of the big night, Briones, 27, Hatosy, 50, and Moafi, 40, were removed from the schedule due to other commitments. Ganesh’s announcement on Thursday comes shortly after fans learned that her character, Dr. Samira Mohan, will not be featured on season 3.

Which Main Cast Members Has ‘The Pitt’ Lost So Far After Shocking Exits?

Variety reported earlier this month that the decision was “story-driven” due to the nature of a show set in a teaching hospital. Ayesha Harris’ role as Dr. Parker Ellis, meanwhile, is being elevated.

Ganesh has not yet addressed her departure, which to some fans felt familiar after Tracy Ifeachor‘s shocking exit in July 2025. Us Weekly confirmed at the time that Ifeachor would not return as Heather Collins in season 2, with a source revealing that it was always the plan for Ifeachor’s character — who was a fourth-year resident in the first season — to move on with her career.

The insider noted that Ifeachor “didn’t choose to leave the show” and wasn’t aware of “any doors being closed” on a possible return. Ifeachor seemed to have a different outlook while speaking to Us months later.

“It was just such a joy and a pleasure to play Dr. Heather Collins and to know that my character has been so phenomenally well-received. It just blew me away,” Ifeachor told Us in September 2025. “I don’t know where she will be on the weekend of next season, but I know where I’m going to be, which is on my next project, which is just so amazing. But I take the lessons that I’ve learned from playing Dr. Heather Collins — playing this character who goes through such a traumatic event and still shows up every day for other people.”

Which ‘The Pitt’ Stars Are — and Aren’t — Returning After Cast Exits?

She continued: “[No one] stops to ask if she’s OK, if she needs time out, if she needs to run away. I think as a woman, sometimes we carry a lot of emotional labor without even knowing it. I’ve learned that through this character, so I wouldn’t change that. This experience has been so life-changing, really.”

Before her exit was confirmed, Ganesh told Us in February that she was “curious” where Samira would be when season 3 began, noting, “It’s up to the writers. Let’s see where they end up taking her.”

Ganesh concluded: “I think we left her in a really interesting spot. I’m really curious where she ends up going.”

New episodes of The Pitt air Thursdays on HBO Max.
