Khloé Kardashian is opening up about struggling with handling criticism of her appearance.
“I feel like I’m always insecure. It’s such a weird oxymoron because I feel also so grounded and centered with myself. But things that I can let get to me didn’t get to me, let’s say 10 years ago,” Kardashian, 41, said on the Tuesday, April 7, episode of “The Morgan Stewart Show,” when asked about something she “still struggles with.”
Kardashian explained that she was referring to her “appearance,” particularly if “someone comments something.” Morgan Stewart, meanwhile, shared her theory for why she might struggle with this.
“Both of us are glow-up girlies, we were not as pretty as we were season 1, which we talked about last week — we’re acting like we were dogs, we were stunning, but it was just different, right?” Stewart said. “But we had to lead more with personality, and that is where we got the confidence from, so we were more like, ‘This is who I am. This is what I look like. Take it or leave it, I feel good in myself.’ And then you kind of tweak and get prettier, then you doubt that more because it’s maybe not as authentic to us inside.”
Khloe Kardashian Felt More Confident in a Swimsuit When She Was ‘Chubby’
Stewart noted that she’s “thought about this a lot,” to which Kardashian replied, “Yeah. I love that.”
“I used to be, in so many words, called a sellout when I lost weight or did this or that,” Kardashian said. “Anyone would. Especially once you make money or you get access to doctors that you didn’t even know existed before, you’re like, ‘Well, I want to use them.’”
She continued, “It’s so not natural to watch yourself all the f***ing time. So then when you do, you’re like, ‘Oh, let me tweak this or this.’ I think that is so normal for people to tweak things. When I watch Love Is Blind, you see them and then you see the reunion and you’re like, ‘Damn, they look good.’ So everyone does it, just in different ways. But I love when I see them on the reunion, I’m always like, ‘You better werk.’”
Kardashian has been candid about her weight-loss journey, sharing in a 2024 Bustle interview that she’s made progress but still struggles with her self-esteem.
Everything Khloe Kardashian Has Said About Her Ever-Changing Look
“Looking back, when I was bigger, I thought I was the hottest thing in the world. I had so much more confidence the bigger I was, which is what’s crazy,” she said at the time. “The more in shape I am, the more insecure I can get because I’m so hard on myself. It’s a vicious cycle that you don’t get out of.”
Kardashian also noted that comments from critics have affected her. “But when I started losing weight, I got the same thing,” she said. “I was fat-shamed every day when I was bigger, and then when I lost weight, people were like, ‘How dare you, you are so insecure, you’re following society.’ And I’m like, ‘OK, you guys are so confusing!’ I realized you’ll never make everyone happy. I have to do what’s best for me.”
