Aubrey Plaza is pregnant and expecting her first baby with partner Chris Abbott.
Plaza’s rep confirmed the news to People on Tuesday, April 7.
A source told the outlet that the baby is due “this fall,” and that Plaza, 41, and Abbott, 40, “feel very blessed.”
“[It] was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” the insider added.

Plaza’s late husband, Jeff Baena, died in 2025, one year after the pair’s quiet separation.
Plaza and Abbott, who is best known for his role as Charlie Dattolo on HBO’s Girls, worked together in 2020 on the film Black Bear. Three years later, the duo reunited to star in the off-Broadway production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.
Abbott spoke publicly about Plaza during a November 2023 interview with Vogue that discussed the working relationship they built while performing in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.
While addressing the emphasis he placed on ensuring he was entertaining not only the audience but Plaza, too, Abbott told the outlet, “We’re the ones doing it every night, eight times a week. So I think there’s a level of—without going too outside the bounds — keeping it fresh for us and just checking in that we’re having fun on stage, and sort of staying engaged.”

The pair had not publicly confirmed their romance prior to news of Plaza’s pregnancy.
As for Plaza’s marriage to Baena, a filmmaker and screenwriter, the former couple dated for more than a decade before tying the knot in a secret 2021 ceremony. Plaza and Baena quietly separated in September 2024.
In January 2025, Baena died by suicide at the age of 47. Us Weekly confirmed at the time that he was found inside his Los Angeles home after his dog walker discovered his body.
A spokesperson for Plaza told Us in a statement that month that Baena’s death was “an unimaginable tragedy.” The statement continued, “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
In the wake of Baena’s death, Plaza made her first public appearance during Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special in February 2025. While introducing musical guests Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard, she wore a tie-dye shirt that appeared to serve as a subtle nod to her late husband. (Plaza said during a 2021 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show that Baena “really got into tie-dying” during the coronavirus pandemic.)
