American Idol season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini and his wife, Reina Capodici, quietly split after nearly two decades of marriage.
Guarini, 47, filed for divorce in June 2024, according to court records viewed by Us Weekly. TMZ, who was first to report the news, revealed that the pair finalized their proceedings in December 2025.
Neither Guarini nor Capodici have publicly addressed their breakup. Us has reached out for comment.
The couple initially met in high school in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and later tied the knot in 2009. They welcomed son William in 2011 and son Asher in 2013. (Capodici also is the mom of daughter Lola from a previous relationship.)

“My wife and I have three kids,” Guarini told Hello! in 2023. “Then we have two dogs, as if the children weren’t enough. We live in the tristate area. We just moved into this three-acre, beautiful compound … and it’s a bit of a hike away from New York.”
Guarini further noted that he trekked nearly two hours from the countryside to Manhattan for his Broadway role in Once Upon a One More Time.
“I’ve made a two hour commute for all of my shows that I’ve done over the past 12 years,” he told the outlet. “My kids and my family are absolutely, 100 percent, worth it.”
Guarini last starred in Once Upon a One More Time, a jukebox musical featuring Britney Spears’ music catalog, in 2023. He also appeared in Broadway productions of In Transit, Romeo & Juliet, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and Wicked.

“I think [my kids] all are aware of American Idol, but really, Broadway is the thing that they grew up watching me do,” Guarini exclusively told Us at the American Theatre Wing Fall Gala in September 2023. “I’m extra proud of it because of that.”
In the years since his divorce, Guarini has appeared to move on with a woman named Kim Walsh Phillips.
“Every day I get to be a part of and witness the life of one of the most extraordinary humans I’ve ever known. @thekimwalshphillips your heart, your mind, your generosity, your brilliance … it honestly blows me away,” he wrote via Instagram in January. “You are one of the smartest people I know, but what matters even more is how deeply you care. How much you give. How much you lift others. How much love you bring into every room and every life you touch … especially mine.”
He continued, “You’ve brought so much joy, purpose, laughter, and love into my world. I’m a better man, father, creator, and human because of you — and I don’t take that for granted for a second. Happy Birthday, honey. Thank you for being my partner in business, in life, in vision and in love.
I’m endlessly grateful for you.”
Walsh Phillips, meanwhile, replied in the comments section that she was “grateful for” Guarini’s love on a daily basis.
