An electrical contractor is suing New Balance, alleging the shoe manufacturer has not paid it nearly $255,000 for work on its Maine factory.
Keeley Electrical Contractors did work at the Skowhegan factory in November and has not been paid, according to a lawsuit filed March 23 in Somerset County Superior Court. The electrical company is suing New Balance Athletics, Green Leaf Construction of Massachusetts, and Invaleon Technologies Corporation.
The lawsuit asks a judge to award Keeley the nearly $255,000 that is owed from work that was done, as well as damages.
The lawsuit alleges unjust enrichment against the three companies. Green Leaf and subcontractor Invaleon did work at New Balance’s Skowhegan factory. It also claims a mechanics lien against New Balance. A lien allows a company or person to secure payment when someone has failed to pay a debt.
Invaleon, a commercial and utility solar company, breached its contract and did not provide prompt payment to Keeley, according to the lawsuit. Invaleon contracted Keeley for the electrical work.
New Balance, Green Leaf and Invaleon did not respond to requests for comment.
Keeley first filed a lien Jan. 30 in the Somerset County Registry of Deeds. The company said the nearly $255,000 of work was done by Invaleon at the New Balance factory around Nov. 24, 2025, and was not paid for.
A letter about the lien was sent to New Balance, the lawsuit said. No response is recorded in the registry of deeds.
New Balance completed a $65 million expansion to its Skowhegan factory in September. It employs about 400 people at the factory.
