Terry Crews and his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, revealed that she has been battling Parkinson’s for over 10 years.
During the Monday, April 6, episode of the Today show, Rebecca, 60, opened up about living with the disease after receiving her diagnosis in 2015. Parkinson’s is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects the brain and causes movement-related symptoms.
“About 2012, [I] just had some light numbness in my left foot. Then my trainer noticed that my arm does not swing when I walk,” she recalled. “Then I woke up one morning and my hand was shaking. I said, ‘Now that’s a tremor.’”
Rebecca was initially told by a doctor that she was “having anxiety” and would be fine. “No disrespect to him, but I asked for referrals and I got them,” she continued. “It took three years to diagnose me.”

Rebecca credited a non-invasive treatment — known as focused ultrasound — for helping ease some of the symptoms.
“I feel good. … I’m able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years,” she said, noting that she’s “seeing improvement in my symptoms” following her procedure.
After choosing to keep her diagnosis private, Rebecca and Terry, 57, are now sharing her experience to spread awareness. “I don’t believe in telling my story just so you can know my story and feel sorry for me,” Rebecca explained. “I really believe that this procedure and others like it are the new frontier of medicine.”
She continued: “I’m excited about the possibility. I felt that I wanted to potentially make it more available to others … and just give hope to people with Parkinson’s.”
Terry, for his part, expressed his hope that the new treatment could be “the beginning of a cure.”
Celebrity Health Scares Through the Years
“To watch her go through what she’s gone through over the last 10 to 12 years has been very, very hard,” he said. “The tremors, the not sleeping, the loss of balance. To watch her write her name for the first time in three years, I don’t know what to say. I’m choked up just thinking about it. … She’s a superhero.”
Terry and Rebecca met while attending Western Michigan University in the late 1980s. They became college sweethearts and got married in 1989 before welcoming four children together. (Rebecca also has a daughter from a previous relationship, whom Terry adopted after their wedding.)
While speaking exclusively to Us Weekly in May 2025, Terry gushed about how the pair’s three-decades long marriage is “better than ever.”
“What does she need and how can I provide that? And she did the same thing for me. She’s like, ‘What does he need? And how can I be the person that gives that to him?’” he shared. “And let me tell you, after 36 years, it’s better than ever. I can easily say we’re going to go on to eternity. That’s my plan.”
