BELFAST — Minor Gold — the harmony-drenched cosmic-folk duo from Australia — bring their new album “Way to the Sun” to the Underground Lounge at 17 Court St. in Belfast at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 11. Fresh off a whirlwind UK/EU album tour, Minor Gold are thrilled to return to North America.
The record was captured in California with producer Dan Horne (Mapache, Cass McCombs), shaping a sophomore release whose fresh, radiant sound has been turning heads globally. Described by UNCUT magazine as a “delightful pairing – with an alluring telepathy to the way their voices curl around each other, rarely heard in country music since Emmylou Harris rode shotgun with Gram Parsons.”
“Way to the Sun” spent nine weeks on the US Americana Radio Chart, appeared in UNCUT’s Top Tracks of the Month, earned ★★★★ reviews from Shindig (UK) and PROG Magazine, and was praised by Americana UK as “retro California sounds brought bang up to date.”
Critics noting echoes of Simon & Garfunkel’s intertwined melodies, the close-mic guitar intimacy of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings and the open-road, wide-horizon spirit of the Grateful Dead – all filtered through a modern, sun-lit sound that feels effortless and alive.
