New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has a new haircut, and he has his wife, Ann Michael Maye, to thank.
Drake, 23, volunteered to have his head shaved to raise money for Boston Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, March 31. Ann Michael, 22, was happy to hold the clippers.
“I think he’s going to look good. He’ll look good. I’ve never seen it before. So this is going to be a shock,” Ann Michael said beforehand in a video shared by WCBV.
“We’ll see what I do with the hair, but we’ll find out,” Drake added at the “Saving by Shaving” event in Quincy, Massachusetts.

The fundraiser netted $4.1 million, which will go toward pediatric cancer research. That includes $5,000 donated for every individual who shaved their head or donated at least eight inches of hair.
“Dealing with kids, dealing with children — that’s one of the best things,” Drake continued. “They’re most likely or oftentimes the biggest fans of us players. And I think it’s just, it’s such a cool experience to be able to, you know, shine positive light and to be there for them and to help in any way we can.”
While Drake was in the chair and in front of reporters, he managed to give an update on his shoulder injury, which became a topic of speculation during the 2025 NFL Playoffs as he led the Patriots to a Super Bowl appearance.
“Shoulder’s feeling good, feeling great,” he said, according to the Boston Globe. “Just having some time off, being able to get back into throwing and lifting.”

Drake and Anne Michael have also recently announced the MayeDay Family Foundation, which aims to help kids. According to the foundation’s website, it will support children and families in New England and North Carolina, where the couple is from, who are “enduring hardship with the assistance and support needed to achieve a brighter future.”
“Being from North Carolina, it’s so different here for us. So I think where we wanted to start was just getting back to the community,” Ann Michael added. “There’s so many great organizations here, like Boston Children’s, that we just wanna get involved in.”

The foundation will also support Boston Children’s Hospital, committing to fund a Child Life Therapist on the oncology floor to support children and families’ needs through “play, music, creative arts and technology.”
To kick off their foundation’s efforts, Drake and Ann Michael will host the MayeDay Family Foundation Celebrity Softball Classic on May 31 in Worcester, Massachusetts.
“Ann Michael and I are excited to launch the MayeDay Family Foundation to give back to the communities that have so strongly supported us,” Drake said in a statement on the foundation’s website. “It’s important for us to provide help for kids and families in need and we are looking forward to partnering with great organizations in New England and back home in North Carolina.”
