A 60-year-old Whitefield man was arrested Thursday, March 26, accused of breaking into an apartment, stealing a safe, and dumping skunk essence in the residence.
Robert King Jr. was arrested for felony burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and theft, according to Rockland Police.
Rockland Police said it received a report on March 23 of a burglary to an apartment on Tillson Avenue. Rockland’s Criminal Investigation Division took lead on the investigation and found the alleged offender had not only made entry into the apartment while the owner was on vacation, but had stolen a safe, and doused the apartment in liquid skunk essence.
An affidavit filed by police stated that when the apartment resident returned to his home, he found the liquid skunk essence had been poured on his computer, his bed and furniture.
Detectives pulled video from nearby businesses and were able to recover items associated with the crime from a dumpster.
On March 26, Rockland CID, with assistance from members of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant on a residence in Whitefield. King was arrested later that day.
King was the former boyfriend of a woman that the apartment resident had been seeing. The woman said King had a temper and threatened to injure the man who has the apartment. King has also placed tracking devices on her vehicle.
