Bangor’s Airport Mall on Union Street has been sold for $13 million, according to Maine real estate transfer tax records.
The sale coincides with Tuesday’s news that the Bangor Mall on the other side of town is being sold to a local buyer.
The March 31 transfer document lists the buyer as a business called SBP Bangor Airport Mall LLC with an address in Montreal.
The 22-acre property near the city’s airport includes a Hannaford, Marshalls and Ocean State Job Lot, among other stores. It was reportedly Maine’s first enclosed shopping mall when it opened in 1970.
Since 2021, the mall has been owned by a corporation called B33 Bangor II LLC, according to city property records.
The lawyer who prepared the transfer document could not provide additional information, and the buyer could not immediately be reached for comment.
City spokesperson David Warren said he did not know any information about the sale.
