As a United States citizen, I have serious concerns about the current war in Iran and the justification that was used for initiating it. Some of my concerns involve the thousands of innocent civilians who have already been killed, along with U.S. soldiers stationed elsewhere and an estimated 170 children at a girls’ school in Iran. I’m also concerned about the widening war engulfing the entire Middle East and beyond, skyrocketing gas and food prices, and huge drops in the stock market.
The Trump administration gave us no clear reason for the war or attention to its possible consequences. This war is costing over a billion dollars a day and experts say it is illegal under the U.S. Constitution, United Nations charter, and Geneva Convention. The war has had no legal authorization from Congress, and is completely contrary to President Donald Trump’s campaign promises to combat inflation and avoid wars. Furthermore, the timing of this war is questionable in regard to how it may relate to sinking presidential polls, the Epstein files, and the midterm elections.
For all these reasons, I strongly urge that this war not continue to be funded and that it end as soon as possible, and that peaceful negotiations resume with Iran. For anyone who agrees with me about this, I have formulated a petition that you can sign at change.org/p/iran-war-concerns
