Graham Platner has my vote! He is a model of what we aspire to be in ourselves, our families, and our neighbors.
Faced with the wreckage from decade-old social media comments and an offensive tattoo, Platner looked us in the eye and made amends. He removed the tattoo.
Here is what I find most shocking: Gov. Janet Mills throwing stones at a veteran, who, in his late twenties (over a decade ago), suffered from the disillusionment of war and untreated PTSD.
Here is my takeaway: Today’s Platner is the essence of recovery. Let’s celebrate!
I know from personal experience that years of repeated physical and emotional trauma do not
bring about the best deportment. And, personal transformation is only for the brave. Recovery takes time, courage, and grit. It is clear to me that Platner has done the work to become the man he is today: kind, compassionate, and a voice for the silenced.
This is what I want in myself and the people around me. How about you?
Join me in voting for a champion, Graham Platner. Maine’s gift to the U.S. Senate.
