President Donald Trump is sharing his recollection of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette’s highly publicized love story.
“They would go down to Mar-a-Lago together, and they had a very interesting relationship,” Trump, 79, claimed on the Thursday, March 26, episode of Fox News’ The Five. “They would bicker together — in other words, have little fights — and then they would make up and start kissing wildly.”
Kennedy and Bessette were killed in an aviation accident off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard in July 1999. The late couple’s life is currently being explored in Ryan Murphy’s newest drama series, Love Story, which aired its season finale on Thursday.
“It was one of those relationships, and you never know how those relationships are going to turn out,” Trump explained. “I’ve seen them go on for years, and I’ve seen them go on for two days before they break up.”

According to Trump, Kennedy “liked me” and put him on the March 2000 cover of his magazine, which was called George.
“I got to be friendly with him,” Trump continued, “He was a handsome guy. He was going to run for politics. He was going to run for Senate. He told me. Nobody would have beaten him, and he probably would have been president because he had a lot of good things.”
In the 2024 book JFK Jr.: An Intimate Oral Biography, several friends shared their thoughts on whether Kennedy would ever step into the political space.

“John did not want to enter politics because of his last name,” historian Steve Gillon said, via People. “And what he discovered in those last couple of years was that politics was a part of his DNA. This was his calling. And he was ready to answer that call.”
In his latest interview with Fox News, Trump reiterated his belief that Kennedy would have likely found big success in and around Washington, D.C.
“Every woman loved him,” he explained. “He was truly a good-looking guy that was a nice guy. … I think he would have gone on perhaps to be the president.”
