The Pima County Sheriff’s Department issued an “important notice” regarding the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie.
“Please be advised there is no official GoFundMe or any fundraising effort associated with the Guthrie investigation,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement on Tuesday, March 24. “Billboard displays are funded through official channels. Any claims suggesting otherwise are fraudulent and will be investigated accordingly.”
The statement, shared via social media, added: “The public is urged to remain vigilant and not send money to anyone claiming to raise funds related to this case. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or 88-CRIME.”

Several X users replied with several claims that people had been sharing the alleged fraudulent fundraisers. Others thanked the Pima County Sheriff’s Department for speaking out about this issue.
Savannah, 54, and her family have offered a $1 million reward for information regarding the location of Nancy, 84, who went missing from her Arizona home on February 1.
“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. … It is unbearable,” Savannah said during a Wednesday, March 25, appearance on Today. “And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night. Every night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable.”

For her first interview since Nancy’s disappearance, Savannah sat down with friend and former colleague Hoda Kotb.
“She needs to come home now,” Savannah continued. More of their sit-down is set to air on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27.
Today cohost Craig Melvin noted that this is a “very personal” interview for the network. Kotb also spoke candidly about sitting down with her friend.
“There is a desperation and also a steeliness about Savannah. She’s hoping that somebody, whoever this person is, will see something and say something,” she said. “As you’ll see in the coming days, she talks about so many things. She talks about the investigation, she talks about her faith and she talks about how she’s getting through.”

While Savannah stepped away from Today as the search for her mom continues, the news anchor returned to New York City for a visit to Studio 1A earlier this month.
“I wanted you to know that I’m still standing, and I still have hope, and I’m still me,” she told coworkers during her March 5 visit. “I don’t know what version of me that will be, but it will be.”
