Recent media reports about high-ranking FEMA official Gregg Phillips caught my attention. Phillips claimed to have been teleported to a Waffle House 50 miles away in the blink of an eye.

Could this possibly be an AI-generated story designed to ridicule another hard-working member of the Trump administration? Or is this just one in a long line of kookie, unqualified Trump appointees making headlines for all the wrong reasons?

But wait, what if it were true? Might this not be, in part at least, an answer to our affordability crisis? Tired of paying more at the pump for your commute? Teleport. Discouraged by long TSA lines and rising air fares this spring break? Just teleport your way to fun in the sun. Stuck in the war-torn Persian Gulf? Teleport out of harm’s way.

The larger question here may be why the Trump administration has kept this scientific breakthrough from the American people in these challenging times.

Alas, I fear the advances required for this technology may not come to pass as the Trump administration has sought to slash funding for high energy particle physics research. More likely, this is yet another distraction planned by the vetting committee tasked with screening government employees. Indeed, the flawed, incompetent appointee appears to be a feature not a bug of this administration.
