Reese Witherspoon is having the opposite of a midlife crisis.
After her 50th birthday on Sunday, March 22, a source tells Us Weekly exclusively that the Oscar winner was “looking forward to it more than anything.”
“She isn’t the kind of person to hide her age or aging,” the insider explains. “She would want to celebrate her age.”
Witherspoon certainly has plenty to be thankful for these days.

“She had a windfall after selling her company [Hello Sunshine, which produced shows including Big Little Lies and The Morning Show, for $900 million in 2021], and since then, she has been very happy,” the source tells Us. “Her career is on fire, her brand is great, her kids are healthy. She is living her best life.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Witherspoon’s rep for comment.
Two days before her birthday, the Legally Blonde star took to social media to tell her followers that she was “feeling grateful” about reaching the milestone.
“I turn 50 on Sunday, and I can’t help but reflect on the years that shaped me into who I am today,” she captioned throwback photos from the past three decades of her life.

Witherspoon admitted she was “scared of everything” in her 20s. “I was working nonstop, trying to figure out life, how to be a mom, and I had no idea what I was doing half the time,” she wrote. “But I was learning, and discovering that I could handle more than I thought.”
In her 30s, the Walk the Line star learned to “trust” herself more as she figured out how to balance her Hollywood career and raising her three children: daughter Ava, now 26, and son Deacon, now 22, whom she welcomed with her first husband, Ryan Phillippe, in addition to son Tennessee, now 13, whom she shares with her second ex-husband, Jim Toth.
“I started producing because I wanted to tell stories that mattered, stories about women that weren’t being told,” she recalled. “Wild and Big Little Lies felt like turning points. I realized I could create my own opportunities instead of waiting for them.”
Witherspoon shared that she “fully” knew herself by her 40s, writing, “I still work hard, but now it’s with purpose.”
As she looked to the future, the Emmy winner concluded her post, “There’s still so much to do, and I’m excited for all of it. More stories to tell, more women to cheer on, and more ways to keep learning and growing.”
