Bluegrass legend Ronnie Bowman died at age 64 in March 2026.
Bluegrass Today announced on March 22, 2026, that Ronnie succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident one day prior. The musician is survived by wife Garnet Imes Bowman and their daughter, Chassidy Bowman.
“It’s hard to fully capture the depth of this loss. Ronnie wasn’t just a remarkable musician and songwriter, he was a remarkable person,” the International Bluegrass Music Association shared in a statement confirming his death. “He lifted those around him and left them better than he found them. Ronnie was a treasured part of our community, and his absence is deeply felt.”
Aside from his own success in the music industry, Ronnie was known for his collaborations with other artists. Dierks Bentley even took to social media and shared a lengthy tribute to Ronnie after his death.

“Going to take awhile for it to sink in that Ronnie Bowman is gone. He was the favorite bluegrass and country singer of everyone I know. And he was everyone’s favorite hang,” he shared via Instagram, in part, revealing that his wife, Cassidy Black, loved one of Ronnie’s songs. “Can’t imagine what Garnet, his family and all his close friends are feeling right now.”
He added, “Thoughts and prayers for them, and for all the RoBo fans out there, as he’s affectionately referred to in my band. We all loved him.”

Ronnie Bowman kicked off his career in the bluegrass band The Lost and Found in 1987 before starting the Lonesome River Band in 1990. Ronnie eventually kicked off his solo career in 1994 and released his final album in 2019. Aside from being a singer, Ronnie was also a songwriter.
