A disgraced Massachusetts doctor has been accused of rape and sexual assault by 11 of his adult female patients — and now, he’s been indicted by a grand jury.
Derrick Todd, 52, who lives in Wayland but practiced in Framingham, was indicted on three counts of rape and 17 counts of indecent assault and battery for the alleged sexual assaults of 11 women, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced this week.
“The defendant is accused of conducting unnecessary and excessively prolonged pelvic and breast examinations, performing procedures for which he lacked appropriate training or certification and engaging in conduct that was outside the accepted standards of medical care,” Ryan said in a press release Thursday, March 19. “In several instances, the alleged assaults occurred under the guise of legitimate medical treatment, including purported pelvic floor therapy, despite the defendant not being qualified to perform such therapy.”

The alleged rapes and sexual assaults happened between 2021 and 2023 while he was working as a rheumatologist and primary care physician for Charles River Medical Associates.
The victims are aged between 20- and 60-years-old.
Todd previously served as a doctor at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, according to online records.
Charles River Medical Associates called law enforcement after receiving anonymous complaints about Todd.
“We are deeply distressed to learn of the depth and breadth of harm that Dr. Todd is accused of having caused,” the medical practice said in a statement to 7NEWS. “We will continue to provide support and respond to our patients’ needs during this challenging time.”
Todd was charged with two counts of rape in January by two other women who were his patients. Ryan said those assaults were alleged to have happened in December 2022 and June 2023 during medical examinations.
Todd also faces a civil class action lawsuit filed by more 250 former patients who’ve accused him of sexual assault.

“The allegations are that the defendant in this case exploited his patients’ vulnerability and abused his position of trust as a medical professional,” said Ryan. “No person should have to fear for their safety when seeking medical treatment. Under the guise of medical treatment, the defendant allegedly victimized multiple women while practicing medicine in Framingham.”
Todd has denied the allegations made in the lawsuit. He has, however, turned in his medical license.
Todd posted a $10,000 bail from his January charges. A new bail hearing will happen when he is arraigned on the new charges on March 25 in Middlesex Superior Court.
