Demi Moore shared a rare photo of her ex-husband Bruce Willis in honor of his 71st birthday.
“All you need is LOVE. Happy birthday, BW,” Moore, 63, wrote alongside Instagram photos of the Die Hard actor, 71, hugging their granddaughter Louetta on Thursday, March 19.
The sweet photos also show 2-year-old Louetta — whose mom is Bruce and Demi’s daughter Rumer Willis — giving her grandfather a kiss on the cheek for the special occasion. Moore shared the two pictures via her Instagram Story as well on Thursday, where she offered her ex-husband some “generational birthday love.”
Demi’s Now and Then costar Rita Wilson sent along birthday greetings for Bruce in the Instagram comments section, writing, “Happy Birthday Bruce!!!!! ❤️🎂🙌 we love you!”
Dexter and 1923 star Danielle Vasinova added, “Adorable! Happiest Birthday Bruce.”
Bruce’s second wife, Emma Heming Willis, used her own birthday tribute to raise awareness for frontotemporal dementia (FTD). (Bruce’s family announced in 2022 that he was retiring from acting due to being diagnosed with the language disorder aphasia before confirming in 2023 that he was battling FTD.)
“Today we celebrate Bruce’s birthday,” Emma, 47, wrote. “This journey with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) has opened my eyes to the realities so many families face. It’s what inspired me to create The Emma & Bruce Willis Fund to raise awareness of FTD, support research, and stand beside the caregivers who carry so much every day.”

Emma continued, “If you’d like to honor Bruce today, please consider supporting the fund or another organization working in this space, or simply checking in on a caregiver — a small act of kindness that can mean so much.”
She formally launched the Emma & Bruce Willis Fund for Dementia Research and Caregiver Support on March 12 while accepting an award at the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration’s Hope Rising Benefit in New York City. Per Emma, the fund is “dedicated to advancing understanding of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) by raising awareness, supporting promising scientific research and strengthening support for caregivers.”
Last August, Emma confirmed that Bruce had been moved into a second home where he can receive round-the-clock care.
“It was one of the hardest decisions that I’ve had to make so far,” Emma said on the ABC special The Unexpected Journey – A Diane Sawyer Special. “But I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters. You know, he would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.”
Emma Heming Willis Shares Family Photo With Demi Moore and Rumer Willis
Emma and Bruce have been married since 2009 and share two daughters: Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11. Bruce also has three grown daughters — Rumer, Scout and Tallulah — from his 13-year marriage to Demi.
While they divorced in 2000, Demi has stood by Bruce and their daughters throughout his health struggles over the last few years. Still, the Substance actress acknowledged in a September 2025 podcast interview that it was “difficult” to watch Bruce’s health decline.
“It’s hard to see somebody who was so vibrant and strong and so directed sift into these other parts of themselves,” she said.
The Oscar nominee added later in the interview, “It’s so important just to meet them where they’re at. Don’t have a particular expectation of them needing to be who they were or who you want them to be. When you do that, I find that there is an incredible sweetness and something that’s soft and tender and loving. Perhaps it is more playful and child-like in a certain sense because of how much more caretaking they need.”
