Rebecca Gayheart is still mourning the death of Eric Dane.
“There are no words,” Gayheart, 54, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, March 18. “All our love forever — your girls ❤️🩹❤️.”
The Jawbreakers actress, who was married to Dane from 2004 to 2018, uploaded a montage of throwback photos of the pair and their two daughters. (Gayheart withdrew her petition for divorce in 2025 amid Dane’s ALS battle.)
Us Weekly confirmed in February that Dane, best known for his roles on Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, died at age 53.
“With heavy hearts, we share that Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” a statement from the actor’s family read. “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”

The statement continued, “Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”
After Gayheart shared her emotional tribute on Wednesday, she received support from her celebrity friends.
“Watched to the end,” Charisma Carpenter replied in the comments section. “Sending love to you, your girls, your family, and all his fans whom he made an indelible mark on by his extraordinary talent and presence.
Cynthia Bailey added, “So beautiful. Sending love, strength and prayers to you and your beautiful girls. I am deeply saddened by your loss. Thank you for sharing.”
Ariana Greenblatt, for her part, noted that she “[loves] you guys forever.”
In the weeks since Dane’s death, Gayheart and her kids have found solace in their community’s support.
“I am so blown away by the outpouring of love and support from our community,” she wrote via Instagram Stories on February 22. “There aren’t words to express our gratitude. You are truly holding us up during this difficult time.”

Months before his death, Dane filmed a Famous Last Words interview for Netflix that aired posthumously.
“I think they would lead with I’m a reactive person. ‘My dad was a reactive person,’ [which is] not necessarily a negative connotation,” Dane revealed of how he hoped his kids would remember his legacy. “Some of their core memories involve me reacting to something. You know, traffic is always a good impetus for that.”
He continued, “I think that they would say I was pretty tough. Resilient. They would say I was loving and I was really endearing and compassionate and empathetic and trustworthy. I’m a good dad.”
