I look forward to covering an exciting midterm election season, including the U.S. Senate race, the wide open governor’s race and issues critical to Maine voters.
I come to the BDN from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where I covered national and state politics for almost three years and broke stories out of Capitol Hill, Gov. Josh Shapiro’s office and rural communities.
Over a 12-year reporting career in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, I’ve covered presidential and congressional elections, energy, the economy, housing, health, immigration, courts and political violence. My reporting on the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump contributed to breaking news coverage recognized by the National Press Club.
My enterprise and investigative work has exposed abuses of the Fair Housing Act, helped launch state inquiries into sexual harassment and negligence by educators, and broken news of plans to shutter a Veterans Affairs facility in western Massachusetts in 2022.
I grew up in greater Philadelphia but lived in California for a few years and then in New England for half my life. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northeastern University in Boston.
Having never been a member of a political party, I appreciate Maine’s independent streak as much as its natural beauty, people and history. And because I know you were wondering, my favorite Stephen King novel is “Pet Sematary.”
