Frankie Muniz has been acting since childhood — but that doesn’t mean he’s an automatic fan of his peers.
“God I hate hearing actors talk,” Muniz, 40, confessed via X on Wednesday, March 11.
The Malcolm in the Middle alum then asked, “Do I sound like such a tool when I talk?
Muniz got mixed responses to his public confession, with one user telling him, “You’re somewhere in the middle” when it comes to being a tool.
“Just don’t talk politics and you’re fine,” a second user suggested via X.

“The worst is actors talking to other actors,” a third person claimed. “You know their egos are off the chart, but they know how awful it would make them sound if they showed that, so they go with over the top humility about themselves, but then say all the things they really feel about themselves, about other actors.”
Muniz is one of many child stars who, after finding success in Hollywood, stepped back from the craft as an adult.
Muniz got his acting start in 1997 with a part in the TV movie To Dance With Olivia. In 2000, he landed his breakout role of Malcolm on Malcolm in the Middle, shooting the young actor to superstar status. He was just 13 at the time.
Muniz quickly became a go-to actor for numerous teen films, including Big Fat Liar and Agent Cody Banks.

After Malcolm in the Middle ended in 2006 after seven seasons, Muniz continued with voice work on several animated series and made cameos on multiple TV shows.
“Between ages 8 and 21, I maybe had 60 days off,” Muniz exclusively told Us Weekly in September 2025 of his demanding Hollywood career.
During the height of his fame, Muniz decided to walk away from the spotlight and pursue other passions, later becoming a professional race car driver. The former actor has also become a touring musician. (Muniz moved from Los Angeles to Arizona in 2008 to focus on racing. He announced in 2025 his plans to be a full-time NASCAR driver.)
“I’m so lucky [that] taking that step back happened, because it made me appreciate everything more,” Muniz shared with Us of his decision to leave the entertainment business behind. “It allowed me to do other things and realize a lot more about myself.”

In addition to racing and playing music, Muniz is a devoted family man. The former actor married model-turned-photographer Paige Muniz in February 2020. The couple welcomed their son, Mauz, in March 2021.
Frankie hasn’t left Hollywood behind him completely, however, having starred in Half Baked: Totally High and Renner in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
He is also returning for the highly anticipated reboot of Malcolm in the Middle, coming to Disney+ on Friday, April 10.
“I’m racing and I’m focused on it,” Frankie told Us. “But I hope Malcolm comes out and people want to see me as an actor again, because I would love to go back in that world.”
