The Valley‘s Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright reached a custody deal for son Cruz, which came with some restrictions.
Us Weekly can confirm that Taylor, 46, and Cartwright, 37, agreed in court documents on Tuesday, March 10, that neither party will be required to pay child support. They are each responsible for costs and expenses associated with their 3-year-old son when he’s in their custody.
According to the paperwork, Taylor has custody of Cruz every other weekend and on Wednesday nights. The former couple also agreed on joint legal custody and responsibility in making decisions for Cruz’s health, education and general welfare.
Cartwright, however, will have final say in health decisions if she and Taylor can’t come to an agreement. The custody deal also laid out a timeline for when Cruz would meet either parent’s future significant other, which is noted as a 6-month waiting period.

The deal also included a point about neither party being under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or any form of illegal drug while Cruz is in their custody. Taylor and Cartwright agreed to celebrate Cruz’s birthdays together and not speak negatively about one another in front of their son.
The reality stars got married in 2019 on Vanderpump Rules after several years of dating. After their departure from the Bravo show, Taylor and Cartwright took a break from the public eye before returning with The Valley in 2024.

Taylor and Cartwright’s ups and downs were explored on the spinoff show before he entered a mental health treatment facility. In August 2024, Cartwright officially filed for divorce, which is currently ongoing.
Taylor, for his part, stepped away from The Valley.
“After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” Taylor shared in a July 2025 statement. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.”

After seeking treatment, Taylor opened up about his past issues with addiction.
“I’ve been in and out of using cocaine for awhile. I wouldn’t use it every single day. There would be months I would take off,” he told Us in March 2025. “And then I would do it like a week here, maybe two times a month or three times a month. It got really bad though. When the divorce started, I felt like I was doing it recreationally.”
Taylor noted he was determined to do the work, adding, “I had all these other issues because I’m masking loneliness. I’m masking the texting women by doing drugs and drinking alcohol. I have all these other issues. So it’s a slow process, which is hard for me because I always look for the quick fix. This is one of those things in life that it’s not a quick fix. You have to work at it. I’m not used to that.”
Taylor continued, “This is not gonna work that way. That’s not how addiction, sickness and mental health works. People are like, ‘Jax, you’ve done a lot of freaking damage.’ Like, a lot. And this is just not going to go away anymore. People have had enough.”
