Dwight Howard has filed for divorce from his wife, Amy Luciani, after one year of marriage.
Us Weekly can confirm Howard filed the docs on Monday, March 9, and claimed that his marriage to Luciani (real name Amber Howard) is “irretrievably broken.” The docs noted that there is “no hope of reconciliation.”
Howard also requested exclusive access to his home. He listed their date of marriage as on or about January 11, 2025. The pair share no children.
Us Weekly reached out to Howard’s rep and lawyer for comment. An attorney for Luciani has not been listed yet.

Howard previously filed for divorce in June 2025, but it was later dismissed. Luciani, meanwhile, filed for divorce July 2025, but her petition was also dismissed.
The most recent filing comes after Luciani went on Instagram Live and accused Howard of drug addiction, further claiming that Child Protective Services removed his daughter from their home, per Just Jared.
Howard became a dad when he welcomed son Braylon in 2007 with then-partner Royce Reed. Three years later, he welcomed daughter Layla with then-girlfriend Tiffany Render. That same year, the former NBA star welcomed daughter Jayde with Hope Alexa. In 2013, the athlete added son Dwight III, whom he shares with Christine Vest, to his family. He also welcomed son David with then-girlfriend Melissa Rios in 2013.
Howard and Luciani went public with their relationship in December 2024, tying the knot one month later. One week after making their relationship official, Howard called Luciani his “perfect person” in a since-deleted post via Instagram.

Months after their marriage, Howard and Luciani made headlines when she filed a family violence ex parte protective order accusing him of slipping her a drug and getting physical with her during an argument. Howard denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
In court docs obtained by Us, Luciani claimed there was an “established pattern of behavior by [Dwight] involving acts of family violence.” She alleged her husband had a “pattern of continued substance abuse which has caused family violence in the past.” The court granted the temporary protective order, but Luciani decided not to go forward with it “at this time.”
Howard’s lawyer Gillian B. Fierer told Us in July 2025, “Unfortunately, since the beginning of the parties’ relationship, [Amy] has manufactured truths and manipulated reality. It is she who has been volatile, aggressive and assaultive toward [Dwight]. [Amy] filed a patently false family violence action and then did not pursue that action against [Dwight] because [Dwight] has never done anything remotely assaultive in nature to [Amy], and she would not have been able to prove otherwise.”
She continued, “We are disappointed that what should have been a very simple divorce due to the short nature of this marriage is now being expanded into contentious litigation, but this behavior and these actions are consistent with [Amy] character, or lack thereof. [Dwight] emphatically denies [Amy’s] claims, and we look forward to the truth being revealed. [Dwight] looks forward to moving on with his life, away from [Amy] and her flagrant misrepresentations.”
