Five people have been arrested and face drug trafficking charges after searches of two houses in Searsport early Tuesday morning.

The arrests were the result of an investigation lasting several months into suspected sale of methamphetamine and cocaine from two residences in Searsport, including undercover purchases of both drugs, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

On Tuesday, drug enforcement agents with help from state and local police used warrants to search homes at 22 Homestead Lane and 119 Loop Road.

At the Loop Road residence, agents arrested Holly Jo Ward, 42, of Searsport, along with Yandril Mateo-Nunez, 20, and Nelkis Alexander Villalona-Perez, 22, both of Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Agents also seized $4,390 in suspected drug proceeds, 70 grams of methamphetamine, 24 grams of cocaine and two guns, according to the agency.

At the Homestead Lane residence, agents arrested David Hersom, 65, and Melissa Dyer, 47, both of Searsport. During the search, they found 28 firearms and 29 grams of methamphetamine.

Ward, Mateo-Nunez and Villalona-Perez are each charged with aggravated trafficking Schedule W drugs, a class A, felony. Ward’s bail was set at $750. Bail for Mateo-Nunez and Villalona-Perez was set at $10,000 each.

Hersom and Dyer are each charged with unlawful trafficking Schedule W drugs, a class B felony. Each had bail set at $2,500.

All five are being held at Waldo County Jail in Belfast until their initial court appearance.
