I am a strong supporter of Graham Platner for the U.S. Senate, but I have also been a supporter of Janet Mills through her eight years as our governor. Although I have not supported 100% of her policies, overall I believe she has steered the ship of state through some very troubled waters as she has successfully dealt with the Trump regime.
But, that being said, I believe her time has passed. A new University of New Hampshire Survey Center poll shows Graham Platner with a large lead over Mills in the Democratic primary to take on Republican Sen. Susan Collins this fall. This should represent a passing of the torch, and I would like to ask Mills to concede the race and put her remaining political power behind the next generation of Democratic politics in Maine.
I’m a retired nurse, and I retired because it was apparent to me that I was losing my skills as I aged. I went into nursing education so that I could pass my knowledge on to the next generation of nurses. Why is this transition so hard for politicians? I believe it is time for Mills to step aside.
