Bangor police on Thursday arrested a man who allegedly returned to a house and tried to break in after being sent away by police.

The incident started at about 3:15 a.m. when a person at a Center Street apartment reported someone was trying to kick their door in. The caller said they just wanted the person to leave, according to Bangor police.

Officers found the suspect, Hunter Targon, 20, of Bangor, and sent him away with a warning, telling him not to return.

Several minutes later, the officers saw Targon return to the property, enter through a separate door, try to get into the apartment again and threaten the person who had called the police, the department said.

Targon resisted when officers tried to take him into custody, according to Bangor police. He was under bail conditions at the time related to his March 1 arrest in Bangor for refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

On Wednesday, he was ultimately arrested, taken to Penobscot County Jail and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and violating a condition of release.
