Lindsey Vonn showed off her battle scars after undergoing multiple surgeries as a result of her dramatic crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

“And just like that….All my muscles are gone 😔,” Vonn, 41, shared via her Instagram Story on Sunday, March 1, alongside a photo of her legs resting on an exercise ball.

Vonn’s left leg, which she broke during the crash, sported multiple bandages.

The skier finally returned home over the weekend after being hospitalized and recovering in Italy since the crash on February 8. Vonn explained it was a bittersweet homecoming after the death of her beloved dog, Leo, who passed away the day after the crash.

“Home sweet home. Feels good to sleep in my own bed… but wheeling through the front door without Leo greeting me like always was a very hard reality,” Vonn shared via Instagram on Sunday. “A reality I had to face. Along with many other hard realities that lay in front of me as I move forward….”

She continued, “I’m focused now on therapy and getting healthy. It’s going to be a hard and painful journey but I am putting all of my energy into it, like I always do. I’m going to take some time for myself. I’ll give you updates when I can but right now my focus is on taking care of myself.”

Vonn concluded her post, “As always, thank you for the love and support. ❤️🙏🏻.”

Since the crash, Vonn has been proactive about updating her followers about her grueling recovery journey.

Vonn was released from the hospital on Monday, February 23, the same day she posted a video explaining that she was nearly forced to have her left leg amputated due to “compartment syndrome.”

“Compartment syndrome is when you have so much trauma to one area of your body that there’s too much blood, and it gets stuck, and it basically crushes everything in the compartment,” Vonn said. “So, all the muscle and nerves and tendons, it all kind of dies.”

Vonn credited her doctor, Tom Hackett, for saving her leg.

“He cut open both sides of my leg, kind of filleted it open, so to speak, [to] let it breathe,” she said.

In the video’s accompanying caption, Vonn addressed the uncertainty of what comes next.

“Now I will focus on rehab and progressing from a wheelchair to crutches in a few weeks,” she wrote. “It will take around a year for all of the bones to heal and then I will decide if I want to take out all the metal or not, and then go back into surgery and finally fix my ACL.”

After finally leaving the hospital, Vonn explained that the emotional weight of everything came crashing down.

“Had a pretty hard day yesterday, everything just really hit me hard and I broke down,” she shared via Instagram on Wednesday, February 25. “I know there will be a lot of days like this… the internal mental battle has just begun but moments like this help me so much. Just miss my boy Leo…”

Vonn concluded, “One day at a time.”
