
FORT KENT, Maine – Melodie Beauchemin is the unofficial winner of the 2026 Can-Am 100 with a time of 10:08:22, Can-Am according to preliminary results on the official Can-Am website.
Organizers were still working Sunday afternoon to certify the race results, but Beauchemin, 34, of Saint-Felix-de-Calquier, Quebec, crossed the finish line at 9:40 p.m. Saturday.
Beauchemin owns Alaskan Kennel and works as an administrative assistant, according to her official Can-Am biography. She and her dogs love to explore new trails and participating in sled dog races gives her “an unimaginable adrenaline rush,” she said.
Last year, she placed second in the Can-Am 100 and has placed first in the 45-mile contest in the Boreal 150 for three years in a row.
David Boyer of St-Liguori, Quebec, captured second place. Boyer, 44, is a farmer who has been participating in sled dog racing for nearly 33 years. His time was 10:12:47.
Luc Fortin, 49, of Roxton Falls, Quebec, came in third place. Also a farmer, he enjoys training the dogs and watching their progress, according to his biography. Fortin’s time was 10:22:48.
Mushers arrived at the finish line in a steady stream over roughly 90 minutes.
Other mushers and their finish times in the 100-mile are as follows, according to the Can-Am preliminary results: Keven Lariviere, 10:12 p.m., Sally Manikian, 10:17 p.m., Matthew Schmidt, 10:22 p.m., Philippe Dugas, 10:28 p.m., Maxime Fournier, 10:36 p.m., Paul Therriault, 10:36 p.m., Eric Chagnon, 10:47 p.m., Nathan Gratton, 10:51 p.m., Olivier Giasson, 10:58 p.m., and Fayth Weed, 11:02 p.m.
Teams led by mushers Becki Tucker and Julia Klaucke scratched, Can-Am organizers reported.
