Ex-FBI Agent Explains Why Nancy Guthrie’s Home Is Being Returned to Family

A former FBI agent has explained why Nancy Guthrie’s home will be returned to her family amid the ongoing investigation into her disappearance, which now includes new Ring camera footage of a car speeding by on the night she went missing.

“They feel like they’ve exhausted [the home] in terms of every single piece of DNA, every single fiber, every single video camera,” former FBI Special Agent Breanna Fox said during a segment about the case on the Today show on Friday, February 27.

NBC News was first to report on Wednesday, February 25, that Guthrie’s home, which has been treated as a crime scene since she was reported missing on February 1, will be returned to her family, citing two law enforcement sources.

Guthrie’s home in Tucson, Arizona, has maintained a presence of local and federal police activity amid her disappearance, with DNA evidence and surveillance footage recovered from the scene. Authorities continued their work at the home through Wednesday.

Neither the FBI nor the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has addressed what they were doing at Guthrie’s home this week. Us Weekly reached out to both agencies for comment.

Though authorities may have exhausted their search of Guthrie’s home, evidence continues to emerge from the surrounding area.

On Thursday, February 26, Fox News Digital released a Ring camera video from the home of a resident in Guthrie’s Catalina Foothills neighborhood. The home is reportedly about 2.5 miles away from the crime scene, which is outside the 2-mile radius of neighbors who were asked for Ring camera footage taken between January 1 and February 2.

According to the outlet, the street-facing footage shows 12 cars passing by on the morning of Guthrie’s disappearance, between midnight and 6 a.m. on February 1. In one clip that occurred near the 2:30 a.m. mark — shortly after the time that Guthrie, 84, is believed to have been abducted from her home — a car could be seen speeding out of the neighborhood.

The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department are aware of the Ring camera footage. It is unclear whether the video is of any use to the investigation or whether the vehicle had been on Guthrie’s street.

Guthrie was reported missing after she was last seen by her family on the evening of January 31. Her children — Today cohost Savannah Guthrie, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, whom Nancy shared with late husband Charles Guthrie — have made multiple public pleas for her safe return.

Earlier this week, Nancy’s family increased the reward for her return to $1 million. The FBI has confirmed that, in addition to the $1 million family reward, its own $100,000 reward is still active for credible information that may lead to finding Nancy.

“Someone knows how to find our mom and bring her home,” Savannah, 54, captioned an emotional Instagram video on Tuesday, February 24. She also shared the phone number for the FBI’s tip line, noting that callers “can remain anonymous” or “find a way to reach out to me.”

“Coming on to say it is day 24 since our mom was taken in the dark of night from her bed, and every hour and minute and second and every long night has been agony since then, of worrying about her and fearing for her, aching for her, and most of all, just missing her, missing her,” Savannah said in the video. “We know that millions of you have been praying. So many people have been praying of every faith and no faith at all, praying for her return, and we feel those prayers. Please keep praying without ceasing. We still believe. We still believe in a miracle.”

Savannah also acknowledged the possibility that her mother “may already be gone.”

“She may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother, Pierce, and with our daddy, then if this is what is to be, then we will accept it,” she continued. “But we need to know where she is. We need her to come home.”
