A new memo from the Department of Homeland Security will permit the arrest and detention of fully vetted refugees well on the road to their promised “path to citizenship” who have yet to obtain a green card. Such delays pre-Trump have been treated as an administrative matter as the reason for delay is often paperwork issues or language issues or address changes or some such.
The fact that the administration has put a halt to processing some green cards makes this of course a complete Catch 22
The refugee resettlement system, which is set up to exhaustively screen all applicants, has been the core and bedrock of our immigration process for decades.
Clearly as Trump Inc., with billions in the bank for construction, is building detention centers as fast as they can, they need bodies to fill them. It seems to be part of the business plan.
