February has been a very good month for movie lovers on Netflix, with a lot of great films on loan from other studios.

Without the contribution of outside sources, Netflix’s lineup just wouldn’t have the same impact. And getting these films on the same streamer is a coup in 2026.

Watch With Us has narrowed down this month’s selections to the five best Netflix movies to watch right now, as ranked by Rotten Tomatoes.

Romance, music, drama, action and thrillers are all represented in our picks below.

New on Netflix in February 2026 — The Full List of Movies and TV Shows

5. ‘Braveheart’ (1995)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 76

Mel Gibson‘s Braveheart is the only Best Picture Oscar winner on this list, and Gibson was also named Best Director for this film. The actual history of Scottish warrior William Wallace (Gibson) may not have played out in this exact way, but the film is a rousing epic and one of the best movies of the ’90s.

In the 13th century, Wallace witnesses the death of his brother and his father at the hands of the English. When his young bride is also killed, Wallace takes up arms and leads a rebellion against the cruel ruler, King Edward I (Patrick McGoohan). Even for someone like Wallace, it’s a dangerous path to take, especially since some of his own countrymen are willing to side against him in his battle for independence.

Braveheart is streaming on Netflix.

4. ‘A Mighty Wind’ (2003)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 87

Although A Mighty Wind reunites most of the cast of This Is Spinal Tap and retains the mockumentary style, it couldn’t be a more wholesome musical comedy if it tried. Almost the entire film is based around a tribute concert for a recently deceased folk music producer, and three of his most prominent music acts have come together for this event.

Catherine O’Hara’s Best Acting Roles: From ‘Home Alone’ to ‘Schitt’s Creek’

The former music duo of Mickey Crabbe (Catherine O’Hara) and Mitch Cohen (Eugene Levy) faces the biggest challenge, as their estranged relationship threatens to derail their on-stage reunion. Meanwhile, The Folksmen — Jerry Palter (Michael McKean), Mark Shubb (Harry Shearer) and Alan Barrows (Christopher Guest) — feel blindsided when one of the acts in front of them performs their signature song before they can.

A Mighty Wind is streaming on Netflix.

3. ‘Green Room’ (2015)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90

Green Room is a horror thriller with monsters who are much scarier than any supernatural creature: Neo-Nazis. The story follows the members of a punk band, the Ain’t Rights — Pat (Anton Yelchin), Sam (Alia Shawkat), Reece (Joe Cole) and Tiger (Callum Turner). The band made the mistake of accepting a gig at a skinhead bar, and they didn’t get out in time without witnessing the aftermath of a murder.

Patrick Stewart has a menacing turn as Darcy Banker, the skinheads’ leader who decides that the Ain’t Rights have seen too much to be allowed to live. That forces the band to barricade themselves inside the green room alongside the dead woman’s friend, Amber (Imogen Poots). The police aren’t coming to save them, and the only way the band will survive is if they fight their way out.

Green Room is streaming on Netflix.

2. ‘Boyz N the Hood’ (1991)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 93

First-time helmer John Singleton became the youngest person to be nominated for Best Director at the Oscars thanks to Boyz N the Hood. This was also a breakout film for the leading actors, Ice Cube, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Morris Chestnut. Out of a group of friends who grew up in a bad area, Tre Style (Gooding) and Ricky Baker (Chestnut) have the best chance of escaping the ghetto.

Even though Ricky and Tre aren’t involved with gangs, they’re never far from gang violence. When Ricky’s half-brother, Darrin “Doughboy” Baker (Cube), is released from prison, his actions will irrevocably transform all of their lives, and not for the better. This film is an unfolding tragedy that still has power decades after its release.

Boyz N the Hood is streaming on Netflix.

1. ‘Whiplash’ (2014)

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 94

J. K. Simmons plays jazz instructor Terence Fletcher with such intensity in Whiplash that he’s the scary embodiment of every bad boss or terrible mentor you’ve ever had. We’d call it “tough love,” except there’s no love from Terence. He pushes his students to the brink of sanity and beyond, all in the name of getting them to deliver their best performances.

5 Best Drama Movies to Watch on Netflix, Ranked by IMDb Rating (January 2026)

Miles Teller stars as Andrew Neiman, a newcomer to Terence’s music program. Andrew buys into Terence’s methodology and throws himself into his studies at the expense of his personal life and his girlfriend, Nicole (Melissa Benoist). But Terence always wants more, and even Andrew can only be pushed so far.

Whiplash is streaming on Netflix.
