Six people were arrested on Friday after a warrant check led to a series of drug-related arrests in which some of the suspects allegedly shot at police.
The incident started when Washington County sheriff’s deputies went to a house at 71 Augusta Drive in Steuben to do a proactive warrant check, according to the sheriff’s office.
At the home of Corey Perry, deputies allegedly saw what they believed to be drug paraphernalia, leading them to search the home and ultimately arrest Perry, 42, and Laura Anderson, 36, for unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. Both were taken to Washington County Jail without incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
As part of the investigation, deputies were granted a search warrant for the 71 Augusta Drive home, and while searching it allegedly came under gunfire from four people who had previously fled the home, the sheriff’s office said.
“Deputies responded to the threat and subsequently all four individuals were located and safely
taken into custody,” the sheriff’s office said. Those people were allegedly found to be in possession of 272.7 grams of cocaine, 4.3 grams of fentanyl, and $1,373 cash.
Erlyn Yojunsel Diaz Gomez, 22, Freudi Angelo Gonzales Adame, 24, Yermi Alberto Baex, 18, all of Boston, and Nena Willey, 37, of Steuben, were each charged with aggravated trafficking in a Schedule W drug, a Class A felony, and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, a Class B felony.
All four were arraigned on Monday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Anderson posted bail on Saturday. Perry is being held on $10,000 cash bail with an additional probation hold.
Willey is being held on $10,000 cash bail with no bail allowed pending probation revocation. Gomez, Gonzales and Baez are each being held on $50,000 cash bail. Both Gomez and Gonzales have extensive criminal history in Massachusetts as well as previous deportation orders, according to the sheriff’s office.
