The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches has announced its finalists for the Miss and Mr. Basketball awards, which go to the top senior players across the state.

A talented group of semifinalists has been narrowed down to three girls finalists and three boys finalists.

The Miss Maine Basketball finalists are Addison Cyr of Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln, Maddie Provost of Lawrence High School in Fairfield and Kylie Lamson of Cheverus in Portland.

The Mr. Maine Basketball finalists are Nolan Ames of Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport, Akol Maiwen of Edward Little in Auburn and Tyrie James of Windham High School.

Cyr, Provost, Lamson and Ames have all led their respective teams to the upcoming state finals later this week. Cyr and her Mattanawcook Lynx team are playing in the Class C girls championship, Provosts and Lawrence are in the Class B girls championship, Lamson and Cheverus are vying for the Class A girls title, and Ames and Camden Hills have a shot at the Class A boys championship.

These awards recognize players’ skill throughout their career, impact on their team, respect for the game of basketball on and off the court, and commitment to sportsmanship.

The winners will be announced at the McDonald’s Senior All-Star Banquet in early March.

These finalists were chosen from a larger pool of semifinalists.

The other Miss Maine Basketball semifinalists were Avery Clark of Bangor High School, Mary Allen of Bangor Christian, Ella Kinney of Gray-New Gloucester High School, Julianna Allen of Mt. Ararat from Topsham, Renee Ripley from Oceanside High School in Rockland, Rylee Moulton from Penobscot Valley High School of Howland and Megyn Mertens from Wells High School.

The other Mr. Maine Basketball semifinalists were Owen Corrigan of Caribou High School, Parker Morin of Cony High School in Augusta, Andrew Oliver of Mattanawcook Academy, Mason Nguyen of Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro, Dylan Gendron of Sanford High School, AJ Moody of Windham and Reece MacDonald of York.
